2021 Lexus NX review

2021 Lexus NX Release Date, Review and Specs

The latest update states that a new lineup of 2021 Lexus NX models is being released for this year. This news was made available recently at the expo of Toyota North America, where some other models were showcased and although they kind of a tried to put things into dark it was obvious that the models which were tightly shown were the 200t and the 300h which are going to be part of the lineup. Also the X in their names gave us the last clue for the puzzle as it was understandable that these were SUV cars that we are going to get this year.

The plan is to put the NX brand under the Lexus RX as they are planning to release it next year when the release date is largely expected to be. The news also state that the NX 200t will be a gasoline version which is going to sport a turbocharged engine while an NX 300h version is also in the mix as Lexus is braking out its Atkinson cycle hybrid engine for the hybrid version of this car.

The next 2021 Lexus NX lineup is scheduled to make an appearance for the first time at the Beijing International Automotive Exhibition which is going to be the first real unveiling after the teaser brought by the previous showcasing or many teaser pictures that were also given. This is a warm up as we are going to be treated by the while lineup next year when the car officially becomes available for sale.

Available trims

As we mentioned there are going to be several models for the 2021 Lexus NX released which are going to include some surprising additions. So besides the base version we are going to get the already mentioned gasoline version, NX 200t and the hybrid powertrain one NX 300h. The F Sport version has also been mentioned at times but still no confirmation about this one. It can perhaps arrive late into the mix or it may get a completely different release date altogether coming a little bit after the initial offers.

The 2021 Lexus NX is actually enabling the comeback of Lexus to the luxury crossover segment with quite a bit of style. It more than sets the precedent of having a good looking car whcih is going to turn heads and attracts lots of attention. The front end as always features a massive spindle grille to its front which sits well for the entire model. The body lines have been grafted incredibly well while the air intakes positioned to the sides of the grille make a sporty addition to the overall design. The new additions also include the design of the wheels and also the headlamps which add checkmark LED accents as well.

The side profile of the car is pretty sexy looking as well. It features a swooping roofline, wide rear arches, some nice lower body sculpturing and it all results in a great new design for the NX. The rear end also sees the addition of new taillights as the wraparound design is being implemented adding to the flamboyant look of the car. The rear end could have actually added more to it as they perhaps run out of ideas when they got to the back. The design of the bumper and the exhaust pipes truly does not fit well here and it would do well for the model to add a different one in the future.

The interior touches of the 2021 Lexus NX are absolutely gorgeous to look at. The cabin fits a perfect combination of hard-metal accents and soft-touch materials and result in a perfect setting for each driver and passenger of this car. It does manage to look both aggressive and luxurious at the same time brining the best of both worlds together. The center stack is perhaps the best part of the redesign particularly the silver colors which were added now. There are also some silver highlights placed on the dash and door panels and it goes very well together with the overall concept. There are going to be some woodgrain accents available and contrastive stitching as well given as optional.

The tech upgrades add a Human Machine Interface and an iPad-like touchscreen. These additions not only upgrade the tech of the car but they also make sure that you are able to use the best of the modern technology this car has to offer you. The interior spacing is pretty good as it has  73.4 cubic feet which is enough for accommodating five people at the same time. The seating was a major issue with this update and it gives the driver a connected-to-the-car with increased headroom as well.

As for the safety concerns of the 2021 Lexus NX, you shouldn’t be concerned for them at all. The model features a slew of both active and passive safety systems making the model a lot better than it was before. Some of the additions that you get include Blind Spot Monitoring, ABS with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution, Backup Camera with Rear Cross Traffic Alert and Brake Assist as well. The passive features include a standard set of eight airbags, whcih amount to front, side and knee airbags as well. The overall safety rating is five starts given by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The car also scores four stars of the frotn driver and passenger crash ratings while eh side crash rating is five stars. Finally, roller risk comes at four stars as well. All in all. the Lexus NX 2021 is going to treat you well if you treat it well and will protcet you in dire situations.

Engine specs

Based on the trim level the 2021 Lexus NX is going to come with different engine variations. The base version is going to be the naturally aspirated, 2.0-liter engine. The second NX 200t model is going to add an all-new, turbocharged 2.0-liter engine which can provide  225 horsepower. Finally the NX 300h is combining the 2.5-liter hybrid drivetrain  that in total provides 80 horsepower. All of the three engine variants are featured with CVT and also the AWD system comes as an optional offer. Unfortunately all other specs about the engines have still to be released but we are keeping a close eye on it and will provide you with an update.
