2021 Infiniti QX50 review

2021 Infiniti QX50 Review and Specs

2021 Infiniti QX50 – The 2021 Infiniti QX50 will undoubtedly be an endearment to many with its upscale features which include a low base price, a robust V6 powerplant, and a responsive handling system. Some of the new features to expect include LED daytime running lights, a newly stretched wheelbase, heated seats, and a revised exterior styling. Its release date details haven’t been released, sadly. However, we should expect them in the coming weeks.

The vehicle returns mostly unchanged apart from the few changes mentioned above, which is either a good or a bad thing depending on your justifications. The good part about the vehicle is that it still remains among the undisputed champs when it comes to driving dynamics, and which compares sprightly with the Nissan 370Z Nismo.

On the flip side though, Infiniti hasn’t been able to conduct a full redesign of the vehicle for more than seven years now since it debuted as an EX35. Undoubtedly, the vehicle is showing its age through the relatively poor fuel economy ratings, lack of convectional features, and an outdated 7” touchscreen display. Also, its 18 cubic-foot cargo capacity doesn’t make us enamored, as the VW Golf can even swallow more.

Despite the new and revised 2021 Infiniti QX50 getting a new lease of life, still, there are other vehicles in the same segment that are worth a look. Some of these alternatives to consider looking into include the Audi Q5, which compares similarly in terms of age to the Q50 but has done so gracefully. Others are the Dodge Journey, BMW X3, and the Acura RDX that offer more cargo room dimensions, sharp handling, and a fuel sipping V6.

Some of the standard features to expect from the invigorated 2021 Infiniti QX50 include 60/40-split folding rear seatbacks, automatic halogen headlights, 18” alloy wheels, automatic climate control system, auxiliary audio jack, CD player, USB port, heated front seats, a sunroof, heated exterior mirrors, premium audio system, four-way power front seats, front heated seats, keyless entry, cruise control, a rearview camera, leather upholstery, keyless ignition, satellite radio, and Bluetooth audio and phone connectivity.

Some of the available options are grouped in terms of packages. The Premium package, for instance comes bundled with a genuine maple interior trim, an advanced climate control system, aluminum roof rails, auto-dimming rearview mirror, and a power adjustable steering wheel.

Others include the Premium Plus, Deluxe Touring and the Technology packages. Some of the specifications bundled by these packages include Bluetooth streaming audio, front and rear parking mirrors, power folding second row seats, touchscreen navigation system, a built-in coat hanger, 360-degree camera, adaptive xenon headlights, lane departure warning system, forward collision warning system, adaptive cruise control, and driver power lumbar.

Engine Specs – 2021 Infiniti QX50

Beneath the bonnet of the 2021 Infiniti QX50 is a 3.7L V6 engine that is able to crank out 325 hp and 267 pounds of torque. The power is sent to the wheels via the 7-speed auto transmission system. The RWD system is standard, while the AWD system is optional.

The robust V6 powerplant is rather disappointing. As per the EPA ratings, expect it to return 17/25/20 mpg in the city/highway/combined with the RWD system, and 17/24/20 mpg with the AWD system.

Some of the standard safety features to expect from the vehicle include blind-spot monitoring, side curtain airbags, traction control, lane departure alert, active front head restraints, antilock disc brakes, automatic braking, and front seat side airbag.

Sadly, we haven’t conducted a road test yet. But we should expect the vehicle to accelerate from 0-60 mph in less than seven seconds.
