The new 2021 Toyota 4Runner just like the vehicle it is replacing, the new model is a rugged body-on-frame SUV that capitalizes much on passenger and cargo space, and off-road performance. Additionally, it comes with a powerful V6 engine that offers ample power and towing capacities. The Toyota 4Runner 2021 my however fall short in terms of refinement. More about its release date, interior equipment, engine specs, and pricing is covered below.
2021 Toyota 4Runner Release Date & Price
Toyota is yet to say when the 4Runner release date will be and for how much it will go for. This of course has left its fans speculating on the same. Credible reports allege it will be offered for sale sometime mid-2021 for an MSRP starting from $33,000.
Rowdy, truck-based, and off-ready vehicles were once the hottest thing on the market. But with increasing fuel costs and the advent of luxury vehicles, consumers finally realized that they were getting a raw deal and needed an alternative way to save fuel costs and at the same time enjoy a smooth ride quality. This therefore led to the advent of a new breed of vehicles known as the “crossovers” that offered lighter utility functions, were easy riding, and offered exemplary fuel economy ratings. What lacked however, were the rugged looks.
Very few of such vehicles are still in existence today, and one such vehicle that is unabashedly a rugged, off-road ready, truck-based SUV is the 2021 Toyota 4Runner. But even with a seemingly uninspiring review in terms of fuel economy and bumpy ride quality, these vehicles are arguably the honchos when it comes to serious off-roading, and passenger space. What’s even more, the 4runner is well-known for its reliability and a spacious cargo hold, in addition to the aforementioned features.
Standard equipment are overwhelming even for the base 4Runner SR5. Some of the features include a dual-range transfer case, mud guards, hill start assist, advanced electronic aids, hill descent control, skid plates, and mud guards. Spend an extra and you get yourself a slew of advanced features and driving aides. Certain concessions have to be made in order to better certain features. In the case of the Toyota 4Runner 2021, most of the effort seems to be heavily invested on utility functions such passenger and cargo space, and off-roading capability, however, this has been achieved to the detriment of fuel economy, ride quality, and maneuverability.
For those who don’t need such immense capabilities, there’re a couple of alternatives that come close to the Toyota 4Runner such as the Dodge Durango, Jeep Grand Cherokee, and the Toyota Highlander.
