2021 Subaru Legacy review

New 2021 Subaru Legacy – Release Date and Info

Relative to what other midsize sedans in the market offer, the new 2021 Subaru Legacy comes a bit short in its ride quality, acceleration, and overall refinement. However, it is solid choice if snow and rain are frequent occurrences in your daily commute. Its date of release should be expected in June 2021.

The Legacy, despite such a cold introduction above, is a darn good vehicle in other areas. It offers top crash test scores, many advanced safety features, a standard AWD system, and an excellent exterior visibility. The engine department remains unaltered though. But who’s complaining!

Subarus are known for their go-anywhere gonzo due to their standard all-wheel drive system which enables them maneuver effortlessly in mundane conditions especially where it snows and rains heavily such as in the Pacific Northwest or New England. Notwithstanding such capability, the vehicle hasn’t managed to achieve any major breakthrough in the midsize sedan market.

But for 2021, Subaru has tried to broaden the Legacy’s appeal through various add-ons and updates meant to make it feel like a mainstream sedan. The cabin materials, for instance, are upgraded. The cargo and passenger space has also been boosted, too. Previously a major concern, the fuel economy ratings have been improved with EPA now rating the 2.5L four-cylinder engine at combined rating of 30 mpg in the city/highway.

As much as we applaud the efforts invested by Subaru in trying to make the Legacy an appealing and compelling purchase, there are some grey areas which will certainly raise eyebrows such as the jaded acceleration, and a stiffer ride. Thus, other alternatives to consider include the 2021 Honda Accord, the 2021 Toyota Camry, the 2021 Mazda 6, and the 2021 Nissan Altima. These rivals are superior to the Legacy in terms of driver enjoyment, technology, and styling.
