2017 Alfa Romeo Giulietta Release Date and Review

The 2017 Alfa Romeo Giulietta marks a mid-cycle facelift which is going to lead to the introduction of a next generation model which is scheduled to come out soon. It has been around five years already when the newest Giulietta was introduced and the sales numbers have been dwindling for the past few years.

The Italian automaker managed to introduce the Giulia QV, which was a success, and decided to keep the changes of the Giulietta to a minimum, which later resulted in poor sales numbers. Bringing it back a bit is this 2017 update which is going slowly lead to a revival of the Alfa Romeo Giulietta brand which is scheduled for release in the near future.

The car has been in talks for a time now but it was immediately known that the latest car is not going to be shaped too drastically and differently. When the car was spotted doing rounds in its camo, the spy photos revealed a model which is going to retain much of the characteristics of the car. This was also for the interior and the exterior of the car. The model cannot compete with the likes of Ford Focus or Volkswagen Golf in this manner so this is why a complete overhaul is being saved for the next generation model and the future.

The Alfa Romeo brand has been struggling recently when outputting their cars on the market and that was largely seen with the late arrival of the Alfa Romeo Giulia and the release of their first ever SUV model as well. The 2017 Alfa Romeo Giulietta is thus going to receive a minor facelift which might not give it a fighting chance compared to the competition it is facing. Nevertheless, this review will tell you what the car is made of and what we can expect form it once the release date comes.

2017 Alfa Romeo Giulietta Exterior Review

The new exterior style of the 2017 Alfa Romeo Giulietta does not bring that many differences compared to the current model. The front end does bring a new Alfa Romeo shield that uses a honeycomb grille which is used instead of the horizontal-slat layout from before. It also combines with new badge that also has a new styling.

The same type of a honeycomb grille is featured on the bumper which receives blacks inserts and has a sportier character. The rear end of the car is completely identical to the outgoing model and does not feature any changes at all. The only difference is a small change to the bumper design and the addition of  oblique tailpipes. And finally, there are some new alloy wheels added as well.

Besides this there are some other upgrades in an attempt to give more sprat to the Alfa Romeo Giulietta 2017. These include red front bumper inserts, carbon headlamps and glossy anthracite accents  placed on the handles, mirror caps, and foglamp surrounds, but these features are only found on the  Veloce trim level. Everything else is the same and as we did not expect Alfa Romeo to bring out their new language design for this model, we did expect more form this facelift to be honest.

Interior Design

The same goes for the redesign of the 2017 Alfa Romeo Giulietta interior. The only memorable change is the upgrade given to the Uconnect infotainment system. It comes available with either a five- or 6.5-inch touchscreen and also Bluetooth connectivity for hand-free and audio streaming and new Uconnect LIVE services. This app offers you the use of news with Reuters, navigation with TomTom LIVE. and music streaming with Deezer and TuneIn. There is also an app which helps you with the Alfa Performance service and helps you measure the cars specs and performance.

Aesthetically speaking, the Alfa Romeo Giulietta 2017 gets only minor changes in order to shape everything perfectly. These include revised leather additions as the model comes with Alcantara sports seats with red stitching and also carbon surrounds which are placed on the door panels and dashboard surrounds. This is standard for the Veloce trim and it also comes with a unique matte black dashboard which is also available in the Super trim levels. If you take the Lusso pack, you get  height-adjustable leather seats and armrests.

2015 Alfa Romeo Giulietta Sprint

When we think about motor sports, the name Alfa Romeo Giulietta immediately springs to mind. The car made its debut back in 1954 and was released a sedan, coupe and convertible model in the start. It did not get too long for this compact car to start being related with automotive sports and racing and so it spawned an era which made the Giulliett one of the icons of the sport. Throughout its career, various incarnations of the model have been included in automotive sports in one way or the other. The most famous inclusions are perhaps the Sprint Zagato and Sprint Special models. The Giuletta gets to be replaced by the Giulia in 1965 and leaves the brand dormant till 2010 when they decide to bring this iconic car back. The major updated which has been done for the 2014 has made the car even more popular and a continuation of this renewal of the popular racing brand was done with the introduction of the Sprint model now in 2015.

The new 2015 Giulietta Spring model from Alfa Rome will come with a few new and interesting features that will grace the model. As you can see from the pictures of the 2015 Giulietta Sprint, the car will be updated both inside and out, but the greatest change comes inside the car or rather under the hood where a new engine lies. The release of this car will actually mark the 60th anniversary of the brand and is one of the reasons why this car gets an update. Despite the fact that the original car does not have a lot of thing in common with the current one, it is still a nice gesture to mark the milestone that the Alfa Romeo brand has achieved.

2015 Alfa Romeo Giulietta Sprint – Exterior

The newest release from Alfa Romeo that is the 2015 Giulietta Sprint does not feature many updates to its look that were expected. Yet there is enough added to make the car look better and more sportier that before which was the original premise of Alfa Romeo. The greatest changes are actually added to the back of the vehicle. You will notice a new bumper at the back which has a diffuser like apron added to it and four fins which replaces the standard setup of the car. Also you may notice the massively oversized chrome exhaust pipes at the back which increase the sport look of the vehicle.

2015 Alfa Romeo Giulietta Sprint light

The front part is virtually the same as before. Yet there is one piece of equipment added that will distinguish these cars apart. The glossy anthracite finish of the front grille combined with the fog light frames is the sole change that the car has gone through in its front. The door handles and the mirror caps have gone through the same change while the tinted rear windows add for a much stealthier and a much more severe look of the Giulietta Sprint model. Added are the 17-inch alloy wheels that come as standard equipment, while there is an option of ordering 18-inh ones if you want your car to look a tad bit bigger.

Interior Sport Design

The inside also features a basic Giulietta desing, but the 2015 Sprint trim receives an updated which features a new trim color and some extra new features that the car did not have. The black sport trim is what essentially makes the car look better and sportier and gives it that dark and mysterious tone to the inside. The seats have been remodeled to provide comfort and include Alcantara fabric with red thread and a Sprint embroidery added to the headrest. The leather matted wheel has the same color specter while the side doors and the dashboard have a carbon-colored finish. The roof lining and the floor mats also use the same black color there as the entire interior of the car.

The car has also been fitted with updated modern technological features. For instance, the rear parking sensors, standard cruise control and Alfa’s new Uconnect multimedia system which come available with either a 5 or a 6.5-inch touchscreen comes available as standard equipment inside the car. This also comes enhanced with a satellite navigation system with 3D bird’s eye view maps and progressive route guidance.

2015 Alfa Romeo Giulietta Sprint seats

The base Giulietta comes equipped with a gasoline and a diesel engine, and even comes available with a LPG unit. But the sprint gets an updated and a brand new engine fitted inside it. The 1.4-liter, four-cylinder, MultiAir unit rated at 150 horsepower is the option which will power the Alfa Rome Giulietta Sprint version and it promises to be a good choice. The capabilities of the engine will allow the car to sprint form 0 to 60 mph in 8.2 seconds and be able to archive a top speed of 210 km/h (130 mph). The fuel consumption is rated at 42 mpg.

There is also the second engine option which is the 1.4-liter, MultiAir engine that can develop 170 hp. It comes equipped with a TCT twin-clutch automatic system. But the fun does not stop there, as you may also opt for the 1.6-liter JTDM that generates 105 hp, the 2.0-liter JTDM engine with the capacity of reaching 150 to 170 hp, and finally a 1.4-liter LPG that outputs 120 horsepower.

The interior part of the 2016 Alfa Romeo 4C spider car has undergone changes too, with the cockpit remaining pretty similar but dawning minor enhancements. 2016 Alfa Romeo Giulia

Every car has its own story. The story of 2016 Alfa Romeo Giulia starts in the early 1960s. Back than Alfa Romeo started, for the first time in history of mainstream car production, a project which would involve a powerful engine in a lightweight chassis. Everything started with the series 105.

Many years later there was a plan to reinvent “Giulia”. It looked like a “cold case” for this new version, until the new story unveiled itself in the January issue of the “Car magazine”, by no one else then the Alfa Romeo’s CEO Harald Wester.

The catch is that the project has been put on ice since 2011. Nobody knew why, nobody asked. It came out that the project has been sent back to a drawing board and not only for cosmetic changes but to develop the all new rear wheel drive in cooperation with Maserati.

2016 Alfa Romeo Giulia Exterior and Interior

There isn’t much to say about the 2016 Alfa Romeo Giulia exterior, because they still keep it a secret. From a couple of spy photos we could only see that it is going to be a bit shorter and narrower than its bigger relatives.

2016 Alfa Romeo Giulia

What is obvious about the 2016 Alfa Romeo Giulia interior, from that first (sometimes wrong) impression is that wide, beautifully carved central console, with the navigation screen popping out from the top of the dashboard.

I can only imagine the final version of a car and that fine leather and wood over this console. There are certainly going to be a lot of modifications in the design until that final release.

Engine of 2016 Alfa Romeo Giulia

There are going to be a couple of versions of 2016 Alfa Romeo Giulia engine. First version is certainly a weakest one, 1.75 liter turbocharged inline 4 with 200 HP.
Second version will have a 2.0 liter turbocharged engine with 250 HP and 260 lb-ft of torque.

Both of them will be available in 8 or 9 speed automatic transmission and RWD.
Third version is going to be a GTA model, similar engine to Maserati Ghibli, but built by Ferrari.

It is going to be a twin turbocharged 3.0 liter V6 engine with 500 HP and up to 500 lb-ft of torque. As the transmission is considered, it is going to have a 9 speed automatic gearbox with RWD.

Suspension design is going to have an active-roll control, with automatic dumper and springs adjustment in corners and over extreme surfaces. Additional active damping system could allow the driver to adjust the ride and handling even further.

With standard equipment you are going to get even the switchable DNA program, taken from MiTo and Giulietta, which can change the steering weight and accelerator response.

2016 Alfa Romeo Giulia front grill

The company is planning to release a turbo diesel version later on, only for European markets.

With having all this information presented to us, the first and only thing to notice is that, this is going to be the most powerful Alfa Romeo ever manufactured!

After the 2016 Alfa Romeo Giulia release in 2015, we expect the announcement of the new Giulietta release in 2016. Which is too, going to switch to RWD, and AWD for later bigger models.

2016 Alfa Romeo Giulia Release Date and Price

2016 Alfa Romeo Giulia release date and price are not yet certain. The rumor says that it is going to be released somewhere in the fourth quarter of 2015. Some of the British dealers are already speculating about the price. They are all almost sure that it is not going to go above 45, 000 dollars.
