With an excellent off-road ability, a high resale value, an all-embracing list of options, a receptive touchscreen interface, and a potent V6 engine with an available manual transmission system, the redesigned 2018 Toyota Tacoma is a great choice for a midsize truck. Its release date should be expected sometime in the middle of next year.
Although its dimensions are largely unchanged from the outgoing model, the new 2018 Toyota Tacoma bears a clear family resemblance to the larger Tundra. It is an excellent choice for anyone who finds the regular full-size trucks too large or too pricier.
Notable improvements can be seen on its interior and exterior facets, and if you liked the previous model, the new one is certainly going to excite you more. The dinky steel wheels of the 4×2 stripper are no longer available on the 2018 Toyota Tacoma lineup. The roster now consists of only the crew cab and extended body styles, and the RWD Tacoma brethren now come with an impressive ground clearance and a raised suspension, as is the 4×4 versions.
The Crawl Control system available on both Toyota’s 4Runner and Land Cruiser is also a part of the TRD Off-Road and all 4×4’s repertoire. Other additions on the Tacoma include a standard lockable damped tailgate, the latest touchscreen interface, the tri-fold hard tonneau, and the integrated GoPro mount.
Its interior is now modernized and stylized, and the cabin offers an impressive list of technologies and soft-touch materials. Some of the technologies the standard Tacoma will afford you include a blind-spot monitor with rear-cross traffic alert, cruise control, and an upgraded touchscreen interface.
But even with so many new additions, Toyota seems to have missed the point on certain areas such as the low driver seat that lacks any height adjustment, the V6’s unimpressive acceleration, and the telescopic range of the steering wheel is minimal. Therefore, it would be wise to check out what the competition offers before deciding.
There is no shortage of rivals here with the 2018 GMC Canyon being the closest competitor to the Tacoma. It is vastly improved and offers a more comfortable ride even for taller drivers. Others include the 2018 Chevrolet Colorado, and the 2018 Nissan Frontier.

Two cabs are offered for the midsize 2018 Toyota Tacoma pickup: Double Cab, and the extended Access Cab. Both of which are offered in five trims: Limited, TRD Sport, SR5, SR, and the TRD Off Road.
