2017 Acura MDX Review Release Date

With the recent images of the 2017 Acura MDX already released for the public, there has been an announcement that the official and first showcasing of the model is going to be held at the upcoming New York Auto show event. This prompted us to do a review as the news is still hot and there is a lot of interest surrounding this car which relates to the its specs, performance and release date as well. This Acura is one of the best model ever.

The new Acura MDX is going to host some exciting new changes and will be a revised copy of itself, solving all the problems and plugging all the holes it had in its game and at the same time keeping the premier ones that were already good for the car. What the executive of Acura has stated is that they are prompting their MDX as being the best selling three-row luxury SUV of all time and they are planning to do this by upping the performance, using the already familiar style, adding the exclusive Sport Hybrid powertrain with AcuraWatch technologies. All of this may certainly result in a great offer from Acura which is going to bring us a great model.

The model is not only to rely on the upgrades given to the interior and exterior of the car. The Acura MDX 2017 also has a very long list of standard features which are going to include the safety system and the  driver-assistive features which make it one of the best in its segment. It has also been reported that the MDX Sport Hybrid  is also going to be offered pretty soon once the release date of the base version happens.

2017 Acura MDX Review Exterior

The new 2017 Acura MDX is going to be much more aggressive compared to the current model. The upfront of the car sees a hood which has three new lines placed on it with a diamond pentagon grille off the hood which comes to a sharp point in the middle of the fascia. The air damn is now longer and the air vents on the corners are now more refined as they have a horizontal louver in their center with the LED fog lights on the outer edge. There is also a distinctive front lip which goes and extends above the air dam and goes down just before the outer edges of the vents.

Generally speaking the side profile of the car is similar as the 2017 Acura MDX includes the same body line that starts form the front wheel arch and goes all the way to the rear end passing across the door. There are new chrome door handles and chrome side skirts.

The rear end of the car has the same overall design, particularly the hatch and the taillights. There is a chrome insert added for the handle of the hatch but down below there are more significant changes made. as there is a body-colored skid garnish  on the lower rear fascia. There are the vertical reflectors integrated into the corners of the rear fascia and  two slanted rectangular exhaust outlets that with all the changes made to the rear end give a much more aggressive look to the car.

Do not get fooled with the setup of the interior of the 2017 Acura MDX as it does look a bit similar to the outgoing model. If you do not look a little bit deeper it does look the same as the model that we have already seen last time, but it takes a keen eye to notice the gradual differences. That said, the curvature on the passenger’s side of the dashboard area is positioned inward a bit, which also means that the knee bolsters on the both sides also move a bit as well.

There are still two display screens, one for navigation and the other for the  infotainment system. The instrument cluster is also changed a bit as the as it does not include the display between the speedometer and tachometer. You can get your Acura MDX 2017 with Automatic High Beam Headlights, 2.0 and four 2.5-amp USB charging ports and Sirius XM Radio as standard.

The inside of the car has a three-tone layout, making the center console, the dash and upper portion of the door trim panels  black, while center of the door trim panels as well as the upholstery is finished in brown leather. The roof liner, visors and pillars are all n grey. There are other colors available as well, but this one is the standard one and the most premium looking one.

The higher trim levels use Olive Ash Burl or Black Limba wood trim, a surround-view camera with six different viewing angles and a heated steering wheel. The bi-directional keyless remote,  two different wheel designs options,  remote engine start and HD traffic is available for higher levels and added packages.

Engine of 2017 Acura MDX

The newest 2017 Acura MDX has not announced changes for the drivetrain, but it is going to add some new elements. The engine itself remains the same but it is going to be upgraded a bit and will show better specs compared to before. The engine is a new version of the  3.5-liter V-6 which is going to crank up to 290 horsepower and 267 pound-feet of torque.

There are also some news for the MDX Sport Hybrid as the they have already divulged information that a  3.0-liter V-6 mated to a seven-speed dual clutch transmission is going to be used. Integrated with electric motor to power the front wheels while the rear axles are going to be powered by twin motors as well. The model promises a power of 325 horsepower, and EPA ratings that state  25 mpg in the city, 26 mpg on the highway, and 26 mpg combined.

2017 Acura MDX Release Date & Price

As far as the release date of the 2017 Acura MDX is concerned it is going to come to us by next year. The model is going to hit the stands and start sales in the end of first quarter of the year, as it was stated. The Hybrid version is going to make its debut a little bit later towards the middle of the year. The price goes up to  $43,015 and climbs up to $57,230 for the all-wheel drive version.
