2017 Toyota RAV4 Release Date

The new 2017 Toyota RAV4 offers impressive everyday utility, features, and passenger space. Other highlights include superb ride comfort, well-sorted tech interface, and lots of interior technologies even for the basic trim model. Its release date should be expected sometime in early 2017.

What stands out among RAV4’s list of highlights is its seamless combination of comfortable and well-equipped interior, versatility, and interior space. And as one sports fan will attest, you might have a well-rounded team, an award winning coach and pack the stands, but still fail to find glory. Well, the newest Toyota RAV4 might just be the perfect the best metaphor here. Even with such amazing traits, it still comes a bit short in terms of segment rankings. Trouble is, there is a plethora of similarly or better equipped options in its category.

2017 Toyota RAV4 rear side

To its credit, though, the automobile giant has tinkered with the model this year in hopes of rejuvenating it. The interior design, of example, comes with more pronounced lines and angles that provide a modern-looking and streamlined dash. The cupholder count is adequate, but a few of the climate and audio controls feel slightly flimsy. However, if you’re looking for a premium upholstery such as leather, you’re outta lack as the model only offers leatherette and cloth upholstery.

The RAV4 SE boasts of sporty suspension and sporty styling. Toyota added it to the RAV4 trim lineup because it hoped it would follow in the footsteps of Sienna SE and Camry both of which offer sport-tuned suspension and improved handling and steering. You’d be right to say the RAV4 continues with its polished resume for 2017 model year, but what you might not realize is how much its rivals have grown both in character and in performance.

At the end of the day, your choice will solely be dependent on what you consider your most appealing attribute.

2017 Subaru Crosstrek

If you’re looking for a versatility in a small package, the new 2017 Subaru Crosstrek is worth a look. It offers stellar safety ratings, good fuel economy, a standard all-wheel drive system, generous standard features, and a strong off-road capability. Its release date should be expected sometime in the first half of next year, at least according to recent news.

Subarus have been with us for decades now, they are versatile vehicles that have shown their usefulness especially in mundane environments by offering a standard all-wheel drive system when no one else was. And for 2017, Subaru continues with its legacy by offering the Crosstrek version that is fundamentally a car, an Impreza hatchback, to be specific, with spruced up exterior and interior designs, tougher looking style, and a beefed up suspension system.

2017 Subaru Crosstrek side

It follows a template similar to its Impreza counterpart, with a simple and easy to navigate interior. Seasoned Subaru users will immediately notice the Crosstrek’s cabin materials are nicer than Subaru’s historical norm. The door and dashboard panels are wrapped in soft-touch trim. Enhanced multimedia technologies are offered for the new model including the upgraded 7.0” touchscreen display. And, from a technological point of view, the Crosstrek is perhaps one of the few vehicles in its segment that offers a better-equipped cabin.

The new model is also practical for both passengers and drivers alike. In terms of space, even 6-footers will appreciate the comfortable leg- and headroom offered. Further aback, there is a lot of space for stowage purposes and according to Subaru, the cargo volume stands at about 51.9 cubic ft. when the seatbacks are lowered, and 22.3 cubic ft. in a conventional setup. That’s a healthy margin relative to what the competition offers, but if you’re looking for more, the Subaru Forester and Ford Escape are probably better alternatives.

2017 Subaru Crosstrek front side

As enticing as the Crosstrek may seem, there is no hiding the fact that several foibles exist. These problems include a largely underwhelming 2.0L four-cylinder engine and the problem is further propagated by the then CVT’s hair-trigger propensity and triggers that keep the mill whirring loudly during acceleration. Other cons include a pricey hybrid model, poor fuel economy ratings relative to its competition, and a substandard audio system.

Even in an unforgiving segment such as this one, where the competition keeps sprouting every other day, the new 2017 Subaru Crosstrek is an inexpensive crossover/hatchback that can easily get you off the beaten path. Some of its bogeys include the versatile Honda HR-V, the Toyota RAV4, the sporty Mazda CX-3, and the easy-to-maneuver Jeep Renegade.

Subaru Crosstrek – Available Trims

A whopping five trims – Hybrid Touring, Touring, 2.0i Limited, 2.0i Premium, and 2.0i – are offered for the five-passenger 2017 Subaru Crosstrek.

Exterior Changes & 2017 Subaru Crosstrek Interior Redesigns

Standard equipment and features offered for the base Crosstrek 2.0i trim model includes a 6.2” touchscreen interface, foglights, 17” alloy wheels, a telescopic-and-tilt steering wheel, Bluetooth audio and phone connectivity, roof rails, a rear privacy glass, smartphone app integration, a USB port, a four-speaker sound system, a rearview camera, rear folding 60/40-split seatbacks, cruise control, CD player, and automatic climate control.

Several packages specific to trim models are also offered, but we’ll have to wait for its release date in order to get everything right.

2017 Subaru Crosstrek Engine Specs

Inspiration for the 2017 Subaru Crosstrek if offered by the standard four-cylinder horizontally opposed “boxer” mill that churns out 145 pounds-ft. of torque and 148 hp. the Crosstrek Hybrid model, on the other hand, offers the same engine version but with some green credentials to enable it offer 160 hp and 163 pounds-ft. of torque.

The hybrid went from 0-60 mph in under 10.0 seconds, while the regular Crosstrek achieved the same in 9.9 seconds. That is a disappointing figure for a compact crossover, as virtually the rest of the vehicles in the segment offer better acceleration numbers. On the up side, though, the hybrid’s time is acceptable for a hybrid wagon in this price range.

Leveraging on the versatility, personalization, and strength possibilities of Chevy’s own Silverado 1500, the new truck comes with a unique personality that traverses many aspects. Its release date should be expected this Spring.

This is what Sandor Piszar – director of Chevrolet Truck Marketing, had to say about Chevy trucks, “They demonstrate what’s possible through assurance, inspiration, and personalization of the industry’s longest-lasting, and most dependable full-size trucks. They have made it possible for consumers to go where they want and this has been as a result of the inspiration that our vehicles give them.”

There are plenty of technologies such as the Android Auto and Apple CarPlay capabilities along with front-end design styling. It wears a new off-road package (a front push bar, sport bar, assist steps), larger, aggressive off-road tires, and 22” black aluminum wheels.

Also in the cargo bed is a unique drawer system, a cooler mounted just behind the cab, and secure stowage of outdoor gear. Additionally, the Chevrolet Accessories also bundles an LED off-road light bar mounted on the sport bar to aid it illuminate at night.

The Realtree Bone Collector green graphics are complemented by the eye-catching camo theme, which incorporates Michael Waddell’s signature. Exterior Changes & 2016 Chevrolet Silverado Realtree Bone Collector Interior Review

One of the most prevalent changes in the Silverado would be the paint scheme. As already mentioned above, the doors come with Michael Walden’s signature touch. Also, as can be found on Chevy’s accessory guide, there are host of exterior upgrades to consider.

The Realtree Bone Collector rides on Chevy’s optional 22” mud-terrain-wrapped-tires aluminum wheels. Weatherproof and lockable storage for guns, tools and any other gear. Rear-facing LED off-road tires, tubular step bars, and a more-menacing push bar.

Even with no photos provided for the truck’s interior, the camo theme continues deep into the cabin. The gauge cluster gets line green-tented lenses, while the dashboard has the Realtree camo pattern. The steering wheel and leather seats have a lime green-matching stitching as well.

Additionally, an ambient lighting package, under-seat storage system, and doorsill plates with Silverado logos are offered on the Chevy Accessories items.

Although no one knows its exterior colors, standalone options and packages, and interior trimmings – one things is for sure – Chevy will certainly provide additional clues before its release date. So, keep checking the post for more updates.

Under the hood of the 2016 Chevrolet Silverado Realtree Bone Collector is a 6.2L V8 mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission system. The system is tasked with the responsibility of forwarding the power generated – 420 hp and 460 lbs. ft. of torque to either the RWD or the AWD, based on the driver’s setting.

It would roughly need about 5.5 seconds to get past 60 mph, and can lag a 12,000 pounds trailer. Rumors also allege the new 2016 Chevrolet Silverado Realtree Bone Collector can achieve a top speed of 125 mph.

While eliminating brake fade, the massive six-piston calipers aid in slowing the truck in a much shorter distance. The brake package is also offered as an accessory package that will cost you extra money.

2017 GMC Canyon Denali

With upscale looks, more luxurious interior, and a “right-sized” choice for a luxury truck, the new 2017 GMC Canyon is the ultimate expression of GMC’s expert grade capability, style, and luxury. Its release date, although marred in speculations, should be expected sometime in early 2017.

According to Duncan Aldred, the vice president of GMC Sales and Marketing. “The redesigned Canyon Denali continues with its award-winning mix with its elevated content, distinctive styling and freshness, and a lux interior that has for several years been the hallmark of what the Denali nameplate ought to be ever since its introduction nearly two decades ago.” He continues to say, “Canyon is the segment’s first and only premium midsize truck, offering unparalleled capability and efficiency matched with maneuverability and refinement.”

Interior wise, Mulan leather-appointed seats are offered throughout the Jet Black interior surfaces. Others include Denali-logo floor mats, sill plates, unique console trim and instrument panel, and ventilated, perforated and heated front seats.

Some of the standard features available include full-color driver information center, automatic climate control, Onstar 4G LTE connectivity, an 8” diagonal color touchscreen, GMC IntelliLink with Navigation, smartphone app integration, and dual USB ports. As for the technologies, expect Lane Departure Warning and Forward Collision Warning systems.

In conclusion, GMC seems to have done all the right things with the Canyon Denali, and there is no doubt that it will be successful once it hits the market later in the year or early next year. But even so, the Denali will have to face off with other bigwigs on the segment such as the 2017 Chevrolet Colorado High Country, and GMC’s own 2017 Sierra Denali.

We would bet money a good majority of folks buying the Canyon Denali really want the 2017 Sierra Denali, but in a smaller package that actually fits in their garage. On the other hand, the High Country is the range-topping trim model for the Chevrolet Colorado and provides a nearly equivalent level of refinement and luxury for Colorado buyers, but just with less flash.

2017 GMC Canyon Denali Engine Specs

Under the hood of the 2017 GMC Canyon Denali is a 3.6L V6 engine rated at a healthy 305 hp and 269 lbs. ft. of torque. The engine comes mated to a standard six-speed automatic transmission that is tasked with the responsibility of forwarding the power generated to the wheels.

2017 GMC Canyon Denali wheel

When properly equipped, GMC says the new model should be able to tow a maximum of about 7,000 pounds on its hitch.

EPA also says the all-wheel drive V6 Crew Cab should be expected to return a fuel economy of 17/24/20 mpg in the city/highway/combined. Opting for the 2WD drops the highway rating to 26 mpg.

Announced when the Canyon made its original debut back in 2014, the new 2.8L Duramax four-cylinder turbodiesel is the engine many have been waiting for. Then, it was expected the engine would be fuel miser and a torque monster. Well, both expectations have been met. The 2WD guise achieves 22/31/25 mpg, and 20/29/23 mpg for the 4WD option, while the output of the “baby Duramax” stands at 181 hp and 369 lbs. ft. of torque. More specs should, of course, be expected on its release date.

Exterior Changes & 2017 GMC Canyon Denali Interior Review

While looking good is part of Denali experience, much of the changes can be found on its cabin appointments. Such features include dual-zone automatic climate control, adaptive cruise control, a trip computer, leather upholstery, unique chrome accents, a leather-wrapped tilt-and-telescopic steering wheel, heated and ventilated front seats, and Bluetooth phone and audio connectivity. Upgraded wood accents on the center console and door panels also help bring even a more appealing luxury to the cabin.

The most obvious is the bright mesh grille juxtaposed to the red GMC lettering in terms of exterior changes, and this is where many of the changes wrapped into the Denali trim can be found in terms of visual updates.

They include LED foglights and taillights, HID headlights, and daytime running lights. The exterior color palette also features additional paint colors. Standard exterior features include chrome accented side steps and bumpers, mirror caps and door handles, the spray-in bed liner, tow hooks, and foglights.

As for its release, sources privy to the Denali developments allege the truck should be expected sometime early 2017.

2016 Jeep Wrangler Backcountry

The new Jeep Wrangler Backcountry for 2016 boasts of a special winter-theme and comes riding on the same platform as the Sahara model. It features a Backcountry decal on both the rear quarter and the front fender panel, 17” Rubicon wheels, a unique off-road ready rear and front powder coated bumper. The wheels mentioned above are painted in a black fuel fill door and Mid-gloss Black. Its release should be expected in February 2017.

The 2016 Jeep Wrangler Backcountry also gains the optional Sahara side steps at no additional cost, so is the hard top. But the body color hard top is offered as an option.

Five colors should be expected on the 2016 Jeep Wrangler Backcountry: Bright White, Xtreme Purple, Granite Crystal, Black, and Hydro Blue. This is the only model in the entire lineup to offer the Xtreme Purple.

Interior wise, the Backcountry comes in a modicum of style. The controls, gauges, and dashboard are sensibly laid out. The interior layout offers a distinct throwback feel synonymous with the days when car interiors bore the resemblance of the fighter-plane cockpits. In all fairness, the cabin features a bygone era that shouldn’t exist in the modern age.

The rear passengers will undoubtedly face an uphill task whenever they ingress or egress due to the low bench that offers cramped foot-and knee room. Adults will find long trims depressing. Thanks to the removable top, nimble riders can just clamber over the sides rather than face the awkward task of entering through the doors.

See, the 2016 Jeep Wrangler Backcountry is a capable off-road machine that is capable of dominating any off-road trails. This model offers upgraded suspension systems and plenty of configurations that will put any SUV you’ve ever owned to shame.

On the pavement though, Jeeps – regardless of the model, can elicit irritation and laughs, or even a sense of adventure, depending on your outlook. Unlike any other SUV on sale today, turning left on an intersection will reveal the abundant body roll, and a vague slow steering. The ride quality is generally rough. Higher-speed maneuvers are spooky, and even without the hard top, the profuse road noise will drive you crazy.

Other alternatives you can consider include the pricey 2017 Toyota 4Runner, the 2017 Jeep Renegade, and Cherokee. You could also consider previous versions of both the Toyota FJ and the Nissan Xterra although they are no longer on sale.

At the end of the day, the only vehicle that evokes Ike is none other than the 2016 Jeep Wrangler Backcountry. And no matter the serene and comfortable interiors, more secure handling and braking, and upscale technology of its existing and future competitors, Jeep will forever be that rugged, iconic off-roader that has the go-anywhere inherent ability.

Engine Specs – 2016 Jeep Wrangler Backcountry

Underneath all those extra interior and graphic bits, the 2016 Jeep Wrangler Backcountry comes standard with a Pentatar 3.6L V6 engine. The power generated – 285 hp and 260 lbs. ft. of torque is sent to the wheels via the standard six-speed manual transmission system. Although not expressly specified, the five-speed auto should be expected as an option.

Rumors allege the fuel economy ratings stand at 21/17/18 mpg on the highway/city/combined, while the maximum the Backcountry can tow is speculated at a meagre 3,000 pounds.

Price & 2016 Jeep Wrangler Backcountry Release Date

Although the prices haven’t been announced yet, our mule says we should expect the 2016 Jeep Wrangler Backcountry to cost between$29,000 and $33,000 depending on which style you chose: either a 2-door or a four-door version.

The top speed should be expected at around 110 mph.
