Lately everybody has been talking about Audi, and what Audi did to even more modernize the production of 2016 Audi Q7. But the things that we saw was mind-blowing, at least inside of the car. Don’t get me wrong, the shell of a car is slick and modern, and we will get to it, but when I got in the car I was put to “mute”. Maybe because I am a technology freak, but it was so cool. Well here it is.
2016 Audi Q7 Engine
Let’s start with things that were speculated the most. And that is of course the 2016 Audi Q7 Engine. Rumors were all over the place. Some said it will be a diesel engine, others gasoline, some said even a hybrid… In the end, it was all of that. Yeah…
There are practically three different options
a 3,0 liter supercharged TFSI gasoline V-6 engine, with 333 HP, and it hits from 0-60 in 6.1 seconds.
a 3,0 liter TDI V-6, with 272 HP, and it hits from 0-60 in 6.3 second.
Both versions come with eight speed Tiptronic transmission, as well as Quattro permanent all wheel drive. And like a cherry on the top, comes the least expected, plug in hybrid diesel model with 373 HP but 516 lb-ft of torque (yep, your math is great, it is more powerful than the first two engines). That last one came as a blast. Nobody expected a plug in hybrid from Audi.
Update – The company has just announced that the Audi Q7 e-tron plug-in is coming to US.
Audi Q7 Fuel Consumption
Thanks to all the changes Audi baldly introduced, expected Audi Q7 fuel consumption is going to be quite better. About 27 percent better to be exact.
- TDI will achieve 41.3 mpg
- Gasoline model will jump to 30.4 mpg
- Plug-in model will achieve 139 mpg
Exterior of 2016 Audi Q7
As you have probably already heard, last year, Audi postponed the release of 2016 Audi Q7 because it had some flaws. As the company men said, 2016 Audi Q7 exterior was “too brutal”. They used the time to redesign the exterior and came with a moderate design, with smoother edges, small details like two rows of LED DRLs shaped like a double arrow, materials that have been used are lighter and more resistant. So the vehicle lost a lot on its weight.
One more thing that you can immediately notice is that it is shorter than the last generation, although the interior has been improved.
Interior of 2016 Audi Q7
Alright, Audi has done everything good with Audi Q7 interior. First but not the most important thing is space. It has more space than his predecessors, his back seats have rails so every seat can be moved independently up-down, to the front or back. There is more space between front seats and back seats. And actually you can even choose an option with the third row of seats, but who needs that?
There are two ten inch WiFi-enabled tablets on the back. Tablets can be removed from its mount and be used independently. And it is fully integrated into the Audi Connect System.
Just like A3, Q7 has a pop up screen on the central part of instrument panel, that comes out when driver wants to use multimedia. System has the ability to use the interface of a couple of hand set systems like the android or iOS, so you can choose by your need and simply control the software from your phone, directly on a central screen. You control every detail with large touch screen panel, just above the sifter. You can make the meters on a dash board be smaller and bigger, as you please. And place Google map on the dash board, so you can control your navigation even better.
2016 Audi Q7 Release Date and Price
For those with a bit bigger wallet, nothing is more important that the 2016 Audi Q7 release date and price. Actually the official release date has not yet been specified, but it is expected to be this summer, and the price is going to be about 47000 dollars.
